What we collect
When you upload a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis and is immediately discarded after processing — it is never stored on our servers. We store only the anonymized list of product names and prices extracted from your receipt, with no connection to your identity.
If you create an account, we collect your email address only. We do not collect your name, address, phone number, payment information, or any other personal information.
What we do not collect
We explicitly instruct our receipt parser to ignore and not store any of the following information that may appear on your receipt:
- Credit or debit card numbers or last 4 digits
- Loyalty card numbers (PC Optimum, Scene+, etc.)
- Your name
- Payment method details
- Transaction or approval numbers
Third party services
Receipt images are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. Price data is sourced from Amazon, Walmart, and Flipp. This site participates in the Amazon Associates Canada program — as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made through links on this site.
Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Basic session cookies may be used if you create an account.
Data retention
Anonymized receipt item data is retained to improve product matching accuracy. Receipt images are never retained. If you create an account and wish to delete your data, contact us and we will remove it within 30 days.
Price disclaimer
All prices shown on overpaid.ca are for research and planning purposes only. Prices are sourced from retailer APIs and flyer data and may not reflect current in-store or online pricing. Always verify current pricing directly with the retailer before making a purchasing decision. overpaid.ca accepts no liability for pricing errors or discrepancies.
